Precision Grinding for Consistent Particle Size
The Disc Mill Grinding Machine from Premium Pulman is designed for efficient size reduction, pulverizing, fiberizing, attrition, and blending of a wide range of materials. It uses the controlled grinding action between stationary and rotating serrated discs to reduce granules into a fine and uniform powder.
Built with a focus on reliable performance, compact construction, and controlled grinding, the Disc Mill is particularly suitable for applications where consistent particle size and short residence time are important. The system can also be configured with automatic feeding, pneumatic conveying, cyclone collection, and screening arrangements to match specific production requirements.
With decades of experience in size reduction technology, Premium Pulman develops grinding equipment according to the characteristics of the material, required fineness, and processing capacity. The company has more than 5,000 grinding installations worldwide and manufactures equipment for diverse industrial applications.
Disc Mill for Plastic Grinding &Roto Moulding Applications
Premium Pulman Disc Mills are widely suited for processing thermosetting materials and plastic granules used in applications such as roto moulding, electrostatic paints, textile, coating, carpet backing, ion exchange, and flame spraying.
In a typical plastic grinding system, granules are pulverized between the rotating and stationary serrated discs. The resulting powder is conveyed through a suction system to a cyclone collector and then passed through a vibro screen. Oversized particles can be returned to the Disc Mill for further grinding, helping maintain the required product size.
The equipment can also be incorporated into a two-stage grinding system when finer products or higher production capacities are required.
Key Features of Disc Mill
- Cool grinding with controlled heat generation
- Short material residence time
- Narrow particle size distribution
- Auto servo-controlled feeding option
- Temperature and current monitoring system
- Changeable and adjustable grinding elements
- Compact and space-efficient design
- Water-jacketed arrangement available
- Suitable for continuous industrial operation
- Can be integrated with pneumatic conveying and screening systems
These features allow the machine to be configured around the actual processing requirements rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all grinding arrangement.
Working Principle of Disc Mill
The working principle is straightforward but highly effective. Feed material enters the grinding chamber and passes between a stationary disc and a rotating serrated disc. The relative movement of the discs creates the required grinding and attrition forces, progressively reducing the material into smaller particles.
After grinding, the powdered material is drawn through the conveying system and collected in a cyclone. The product can then be screened to separate the required particle size. Any oversize fraction can be redirected to the mill for additional grinding.
For applications requiring finer output and increased capacity, twin Disc Mills can be installed as a two-stage grinding arrangement along with auto feeders, pneumatic conveying systems, cyclone collectors, rotary airlock valves, secondary cyclones, gyro screens, and control panels.
